CT5-V What don't you like about your CT5-V Blackwing?

CT5-V Model
1. Hold ignition button for 5 seconds without touching brake or clutch. Car will go into ‘ignition on’ allowing you to change everything as though the car was running.

2. My ‘My Mode’ is set to stealth. I leave daily at 0510 and start the car in the garage while the wife is still asleep.

3. Let’s be honest, everyone should be using ‘V Mode’ for the burbles. Set it to track exhaust. When you start you will be in tour mode by default if you turned off in v mode.

4. Immediately after pressing the start button press the v mode button. Valves will open before the car starts giving you a track mode startup

Anyone else noticed the passenger seat rattling? I have to be careful how it’s positioned or else it does this plastic on plastic like rattle on the slightest road imperfection. I do have the CF backs and this is a recent issue.

Hey, I know this is an old thread but did you have any luck resolving this? I have the same rattle/buzz from the pass CF seatback and its driving me nuts. I have also not had any luck in disassembling it as per the service manual.

This may sound nuts...

I had similar rattle...was 100% certain it was the top of the seat back or the head rest. Turned out it was the alcantara headliner that had come loose from a couple of clips right above the seat. Pressed them back into place and the rattle went away (and has not returned).

7000 miles since January 2024 on a CT5-BW. I got it with 6 miles on the odo. Cross-country trips, regional runs, and a couple track days so far. No real dislikes but here are a few things I've noticed:
  • The gas tank is way too small
  • I outrun my headlights at night - even with brights on, they don't project far enough
  • My vehicle's paint quality is/was sooo bad (debris, dent, overspray, poor factory rework, panel alignment issues, even a panel with no metal flake :ROFLMAO:)
  • The C-pillar teardrop shape is just a cover (ref: a Honda Accord's is glass)
  • The animations between Tour/V-Sport/PTM are fun but it's too slow
  • The 2024 anniversary splash screen is awkward across the separate instrument panel and display but will be nice 2025+
  • The front intake piping is rubbing the hood insulation a bit
  • I'd prefer rev-match always on
  • There is no adaptive cruise control with the manual transmission which is a huge wtf and makes me want to jailbreak the car to hack it in &$#(!&$#*@(
  • The lane keep assist is weak - let me lane center!
  • The sun visors don't have extensions to catch the rear third of the driver's side window
  • Using the video rearview mirror shows some headlights or construction signs flashing
  • The rear view mirror in non-camera mode doesn't adjust up enough for me
  • The rear and side view dimmers are hypersensitive and won't work with radar/laser detectors or dashcams mounted to the center windshield (I fixed this by stealth mounting everything)
  • Different light panels dim at different rates (most noticeable is the OnStar not dimming)
  • The instrument panel nav and audio displays are worthless when using CarPlay
  • None of the clock displays are ideal (e.g. they take another tile's place or is small w/in CarPlay
  • I was bummed about no music pause/mute button on the steering wheel until someone here said the phone hang-up button does exactly that
  • I got 20+ MPG across the country but get 8 MPG now that I'm daily driving it
Other than the paint and lack of adaptive cruise control w/ a manual, nothing upsetting. Positives that come to mind:
  • The thing rips and makes me feel good driving it - I love the car
  • It's heavy and has lots of horsepower and is exactly what I was looking for
  • It drives like an extension of me
  • Its ESC and eDiff are feats of engineering
  • The performance seats are set up great for a helmet/HANS device
  • The seat heating/cooling/massaging is great
  • Perfect blend of button and display controls
  • Once adjusted a bit, the stereo has high sound quality
Things I go back and forth on:
  • It'd be nice to have a few more Blackwing-specific panels and features
  • It's got a subtle presence when in stealth mode, but others have freaked when they realize what it is, taking videos at car washes or pictures on the freeway
  • Engine noise amplified through speakers
I'll probably add more to this later.

One thing at the forefront of my mind is the damn steering wheel stalks. WHY are they so damn high on the column?? 🤬🤬

Human factors design is so interesting .. I’m 6’4” and proportional and they’re perfect for me. You did remind me the steering wheel doesn’t adjust back toward the driver enough for me though. Cheers!

I think they are positioned there purposefully for tracking the car which puts them set back off the wheel Hugely and higher up in position too.

I wish this was my case but it's definitely the pass seat back, I can rest my hand on the back and the noise stops.

electric door handles. Wtf
Headlights aren’t great
Brake feel is worse compared to my 3rd gen V
Turn signal noise is WAAAY too quiet. I’m 41, and can still barely hear it.
Hands free trunk popper is unreliable
electronic parking brake. ‘Nuff said

I can no longer edit my post or reply to it .. Here are two more bummers:
  • I wish it had a rear window wiper - it's always got water droplets on it in Washington state
  • No hands-free trunk release w/ carbon fiber diffuser

So far, I have only found some minor items but I will get used to them overtime.
  • Steering wheel buttons to change XM stations is very delayed. Like 3-5sec delay. Rather annoying but not terrible
  • The hands-free deck release is a struggle sometimes. I look like an idiot waving my foot under it multiple times to get it to work. I'm sure I just haven't found the "sweet spot" for it
  • Supercruise is cool but makes some terrible decisions. Cruising at 80 in the left lane while the center lane is doing maybe 70. It will find a minor hole to move to (I understand it's programmed to not be a left lane camper) but it's within the adaptive cruise distance so it slows down... and then decides to change back over and pass when it could have just stayed in the lane to begin with.
  • For some reason, I cannot get it to remember my lumbar setting. I like it fully deflated but it decides to inflate itself even after saving driver seat settings
  • This I got used to quick but the dip down right at the pedals. Just doesn't feel normal
  • Why does SVR need an SD card formatted differently than PDR. Just make it all the same

Something is up with your car, I think, as I am now on my second BW and neither had this issue. Ask the dealer to check it; maybe they can reset the infotainment to its factory settings.

Kick don't wave. I find a gentle kick in the area of the logo and then waiting a second or two works best. Emphasis on gentle in terms of the kick and then waiting a beat.

I have yet to figure out how the damn memory seats work. My 2020 Mustang was much simpler and more user friendly in this respect. When you figure them out, please let me know.

Not just that but I think it's going to result in the floor mats wearing out more quickly than if it was flat down there.

My car does this (the delay) which I believe is a "feature" so that you can skip multiple stations without getting a brief blip of a song for each skipped station. That's my theory.

Once you get used to it (like almost everything else) it's no big deal. Coming as I do from the world of BMW, I no longer let little obscure unfathomable electronic gremlins bother me like they used to. I had to, to mentally survive.

I can't remember and am too lazy to look and see if I posted earlier in this thread. After 7 or 8 months of ownership, the only surviving gripe that I have about my car is the road noise. And yes, I wish it had come from the factory with a spare and a spare wheel well that it would fit into. But I bought an aftermarket wheel and associated tools and since we usually take the wife's car on road trips, the reduced luggage space is not a huge deal.

Not too many miles on mine but I do wish the 6MT had adaptive cruise control. My 2021 Tacoma with a 6MT has ACC.

I also have a rattle coming from the headliner or dash. Can’t quite put my finger on it yet.

Last gripe, a Camaro with the 2ss trim has better ambient lighting. The RS6 I had before had decent ambient lighting and while it’s a gimmick, it’s neat. For 100k I would hope I could adjust the color.

+1 though for long night drives and being able to turn off the infotainment lights and have the super minimal/dimmed dash. Just turn the brightness dial all the way down and the car is dark as hell inside. I know this is the opposite of my ambient lighting quip haha.

For the seat settings, check that you do not have entry seat memory on. That or turn it off then back on with you preferred position.

Right side wiper arm . Center console hinged direction . Minor personal inconvenience's . Great vehicle , very pleased overall .

I had some issues with the seats until I read the manual and realized I had to hold down the memory seat button to fully slide and set my settings back up after a different driver.

I was just pressing it once and it would barely move and I thought it was broken.

Today, I muted my radio and I was hearing a strange sound as if there was low static sound coming from the speakers.
After a few minutes of turning my head to place the sound, I discovered it was the driver seat blower fan in high mode.
Now I know that I wasn't going crazy.
When I first got my car, I had the same experience. I knew it was coming from behind me and climbed in the back seat to check it out. After getting my head unstuck from between the the rear window and rear deck, trying to hear if was coming from rear speakers, I then realized it was the cooling fan in the front seats. 🙄
