Welcome to the Cadillac V-Series Forums!

Surprised to see this…

Back in the very late 80s I made a deal with Lindsay Toyota for a supercharged MR2. I had bargained hard and made a great deal....waited and waited....tracked cars coming in from Japan and urged them to get/trade for those cars etc....nothing. Never got the car. Later, after I got the car from out of town i took it there for service and they were terrible. It was enough to swear me off them forever. I never even considered going to them for a new Caddy.

The honest dealerships tend to go out of business. I bought my Telluride during Covid and paid 7k over sticker. That was my decision. It is a great car that was very hard to get in 2022. I bought it in October 2021. They promised me 10 "free oil changes and rotations" if I bought the car. By February of 2022, I had driven from NY to California and back. Car needed its first oil change after almost 8000 miles. I go and bring it in and the service manager tells me that I owe them $140 bucks. I tell them that I have 10 free changes. His reply.....oh, they sold the dealership in November and we won't honor their deals ! The dealership has kept the same name ! Others in the waiting area heard me gripe and they then too became VERY vocal. They did come around and give me that first oil change for free , in the interest of good customer relations. I told them to go scratch, that they just lost me as a repeat customer. I ended up threatening them with a lawsuit and bad publicity on cable tv (my SIL is a reporter). They later sent me a check for $750 and had me sign a NDA. That dealership is SOUTH SHORE KIA in Amityville NY !!

I’ve bought and sold cars with Lindsey Cadillac in Va, with no problems or issues. However I’m very upfront and tell them I’m not going to purchase anything extra. That’s no to wheel and tire, to pdr, to extended warranty and all the other add ons that can easily tack on an extra 8K to the price. I can see some people caving in though. I think they make more on that crap than the car itself. Consumers need to know how to deal, it’s not the role of government to protect them from themselves.

Oh don’t forget nitrogen in the tires and wheel locks for $2000 or whatever the hell they charge for that BS.
