CT4-V Squeaking and stumbling from idle (2024 4BW)

Cadillac CT4-V model
So with a break in the constant rain, I took the car out this morning (first time out in the car for a little while), and the issue has reemerged.
The last fix last ~2500kms and the whole car is less than a year old and only has ~5500 kms (3400 miles) on it.

I had an appointment for a recall and oil change anyways, so this will get added to the list, but I am little gutted.

Here's the latest manifestation:

It sounds like the real solution is a new TB? Turbo doesn't seem to fix. I may get the Soler and do myself.

Gawdam man… I’m so sorry you’re going through this. You must be ready to chew nails at this point.

I’ve never had good experiences with any car I owned that had turbos. Both my Merc Capri, and Eagle Talon had really frustrating issues.

Hope it all works out for you in the end my dude.

I already got a new throttle body (OEM). One turbo was replaced, so I suspect the other one is going. I have driven the car a few times since, and the noise is intermittent (of course), which wasn't the case last time....
With spring, I'll drive the car more and see what can be done. The dealer needs to see the issue in person as it is happening, so time will tell.

It's a bummer. The issues take the fun out of having the car, but i am hopeful it can get sorted.

If not, then I'll consider moving on, but it's a shame because I do really want to like the car!

4sho man. I get it. They’re hella fun to drive, but I will never buy a car with turbos again in my life. Maybe you can get a sweet upgrade to the 5! I only drove mine briefly before dropping it off to get wrapped, but it felt like turbos but better IMO. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤞🏽

Silly question, if you got an OEM TB from dealer (same as factory) and GM is installing bad OEMs during build at factory, doesnt this confirm the problem is OEM? A modified TB would fix the issue of the off the shelf unit. ?

It was never the throttle body for me. The TB was replaced and nothing changed, so the diagnosis went to the turbos.

Yes, there is a chance that new TB they added is the cause of this new noise, but given my experience, I would first look at the turbos again.

Your statement that getting bad OEM parts might not fix the issue is true, but I am relying on the fact that production gets refined over time and product revisions help address such issue. Also, I don't think it's fair to say 'all x' are bad, because if that was the case, the issues would be more rampant than they are.

Lots of anxiety and disappointment to go around on this issue. Let's just not cannibalize each other. My message does not include any comment about "All are bad". Reality is parts have failure rates, everything has a failure rate, it's a fact. Impossible to know what it is on the TB ( or turbos), but given the TB is a moving part with lots of complaints on an already low volume car with an even lower volume of enthusiasts to report issues, we don't know. I came from an M3 and the BMW forums would be all over this, unfortunately caddy doesn't have that customer knowledge base to draw from.

While comforting as the dealer rips apart the car again and again, I need resolution myself on this matter and the turbo and waste gate doesn't make sense to me. Are the turbos really spinning that hard at 800 RPM and actuating the waste gates? For my car it is precisely aligned with throttle tip in, turbos aren't even getting going yet. Dealers love warranty work, it's fully paid by GM, not saying this is happening but something doesn't align here.

I've been doing research a lot on this issue and it's inconclusive and I doubt GM will release a TSB on this, too low volume.

I may be the lone guinea pig on this and install the Soler or Tapout TB and report back. If it doesn't fix it I'll eat crow and share the results.

I’m bringing my 24 into the dealer in a week. I’ll keep the group posted on what they say. It’ll be interesting to see how they’re approaching each case. I’m going to tell them to only do the TB (if I can) vs TB and Turbos.

I think one person here just put the aftermarket TB in and it fixed the noise. Not sure if it's the SAME noise but they didn't want to deal with the back and forth with the dealer on such a simple fix.

I can only speak to the issue I - and several others - here have had. Both the the throttle body and turbos are noting by the forum and GM as possible sources. Some folks have had one replaced to fix the issue, but most have both done before it got corrected.

In my case, it seems I probably need to get one of the two issues addressed again, but this time, the issue is more intermittent than it was before.

My issue is/was like yours. You can see the video - the noise comes with tip in. I, like you, hoped it was the TB; however, when that didn't fix it, I left it to the dealer and GM to figure out. The turbo replacement ultimately fixed it for me for ~6 months and 1000 or so miles. The throttle body replacement made no change at all.

People have upgraded to the Soler TB. I'm not against it, but I want the car running right stock before I mess with anything.

There's been enough cases reported that GM should have a procedure for this. When I took my car in 9 months ago, they were already starting with the TB first.

Awesome that’s great to hear. Anyone here been to Delaware Cadillac? That’s where I’m going.
