Spring Mountain- Track insurance?

She can go for a free ride along if she wants , just to get the feel of what its like. You just request it from the instructors and they will take a companion for a few laps. If you leave your SD card in the car , they will turn it on to get the reactions.
Thank you , that is what we would like for her to take ride but no driving. She likes that and take pictures .

I originally skipped the track insurance but since my 5BW is owned by my LLC and the trip was paid for by the LLC and the LLC would be on the hook for damages I might cause to SM's 5BW, I let my business partner talk me into getting the insurance. There was nothing even remotely resembling a close call, so I could have comfortably done without it.

i thought it was a good idea to bring down the deductible cost, though, keep in mind, they make you keep the traction control and stabilitrak on. If you have any prior experience on track, that makes it pretty hard to screw up unless you just blank out and toss it off the track. Every time I got loose and was correcting it, the traction control kicked in. It was intrusive and slowed me down, but... didn't feel like turning it off and getting in trouble or kicked out would be worth it.

that being said, someone in the class did a full send into the desert and beached a 5BW...

Someone prior to my class , hit an orange cone and destroyed the front chin spoiler. Very expensive carbon fiber part.......if you can even get it.

I nicked a cone at autocross... I don't even think the cone tipped over. no damage except to my soul. That would have moved me from 3rd to 1st... but the rules are the rules lol.

It wasn’t me , but the guy in front of me. No insurance believe it car running around with gorilla tape holding it together!

Sure, the weather is a factor. I'm used to driving on tracks lined with ARMCO, trees and cement barriers. Lots of stuff to hit. At SM, it's just a big flat desert, so you have to be pretty darn stupid to hit something. IIRC. You decide.

But if it is only $200, heck you could lose that in 5 minutes at the craps table, or if you're with @division he probably drops that in a single trip to the dispensary. LOL

But even their insurance has a deductible, doesn't it?

I'll also add that the instructors will try to keep you in line and help to reduce the chance of you going off and getting hurt. So there's that.

Although as my wife likes to say, you can't fix stupid.

edit: I'm not saying that you, @Deneed4spd are stupid. Just pointing out that some people do stupid stuff, and there's nothing to prevent that.
Yes, their insurance has a deductible.

i don't know if they have a third party policy or self insure, however, it's pitched as there is a $5k deductible or something like that, and you have the option of buying down the deductible to $2k for a cost of $200. It's a deductible buy down option that's in play here.

$200 for $3k on a two day event is a little pricey from an exposure to cost perspective, but when that's the only cost that you actually see for the event (outside of travel), it's easier to pay it and sleep soundly (for me at least).

It's $10k to $2k.
