I've got the rubber mat in the trunk and it does do a great job at holding the groceries. You're right, with a sticky phone case it does hold better at the charger. I can't give up my carbon fiber cover though. It matches the interior too nicely..

If I didn’t have a sticky case I would be constantly dropping my phone. I know this from experience.
