I bought a three pedal Chevy SS new in 2017, and though I have long ogled the 5BW 6-speeds like a kid licking a candy store window, it was a hard no from the wife. So I figured the SS would be a nice dad car for a good long while, and the day would come when I'd slap an LSA blower on it and just drive it into the ground with a big dumb grin on my face.

Aaaand then I hit a deer. Insurance has totaled the car, I'm having difficulty finding another of the same spec, and my wife's worry is even if I do find a suitable replacement, this situation will be even worse next time. And to my surprise, she brought up (with great hesitation) the 5BW idea again.

So I'm now in the market for a 5BW 6-speed. As much as I love the SS and its heritage, this is the natural progression of things. Here's to hoping this pans out.

LOL, Flo.

Sorry about Bambi, but as another former SS owner, I'll tell you that you will not regret the move to the BW.

That's what I'm told! My only concern, and it's a distant one until I can actually find a car to look at, is that the 5BW trunk is supposedly significantly smaller than that of the SS.

Also it's at least twice the price of the SS, but I'm not here to make good financial decisions.

11.9ft vs 16.4ft - If my math is correct, that's roughly a 28% difference. No insignificant but not the end of the world. You should probably look around locally for a regular CT5 (same volume as the BW) to see if the trunk is a deal breaker.

It's not the end of the world. I sat in a base CT5 a few weeks ago just to get an idea of the dimensions. There are a couple of things that used to fit all the way up against the back seats in my SS that won't fit in the narrower CT5 trunk, but now that my wife has a larger car I don't think it'll often be a problem.

Looks like I'm hitting the ol' pause button for now. Not real happy with current interest rates, so I'm going to build up a bit more of a down payment for a year or so and see where the market is. In the meantime, I brought this guy home. Got a new set of Holden badges on order, and I'll have a PDR guy try to remove a small crease in the hood, then have my detailer strip the PPF (it's not looking so hot), fill in a good bit of sad paint spots, clay bar, polish to a mirror finish, and give it a nice heavy Rocklear coating.

My eyes will always be out for a deal on a manual 5BW, but in the meantime I'll have this...let's call it a consolation prize looking proper in no time.
