Paint protection ‘25 BW5

Truckee - my advice is to talk to your trusted local installer(s) and see what they recommend, how the material holds up, ease of replacement, etc. You'll find that the folks that have been doing this for awhile have a favorite material (or two) depending on the application.
That’s precisely what I did. I talked to several places, and ended up going with the one where the owner called me back and talked with me about their process, what would work best for the mountain environment, and how to take care of it/what products he uses to maintain the integrity of the coating.

He suggested the Kovaca PPF and Ceramic Pro so I get the effect/protection of both, and to get ceramic on the wheels for ease of cleaning (which I read in a thread folks had wished they’d done so because of the painstaking for cleaning wheels well).

Since I want this to be my forever car, I figured any protection I can add is worth it. My home in the mountains uses a well, so I can wash with impunity from water costs.

Now I just need them to actually deliver the car! I keep getting told there’s a one week delay. All good though. I was lucky as fuck just finding the exact color/interior/transmission that I was looking for. Someone ordered it and decided to order a different one because something on this one wasn’t exactly what they’d specified. Crazy enough, it happens to be to a dealership closest to my house! Thanks random person with impeccable taste!

I’m no expert, but from my understanding every material has its installation quirks and most small shop installers only have expertise in one type and hence only install that one.

I don’t have that many installers in my city, so I bought the installer more than I bought the PPF brand. No sense getting any PPF if the install is crap.

Where I'm at, DFW, we have a LOT of all types of PPF shops, from the chain/franchise shops (Tint World, a buddy owns one of those), independents, etc...the guy I use (Pro-Tech Mobile #1 Car Paint Protection Film & Clear Bra Installer in NTX | Pro-Tect Mobile) uses a bunch of different films depending on the application - but you are definitely spot on - you *have* to buy the installer!! Are they going to be around to take care of any warranty issues / re-work? What's the quality of their work? Ask to see vehicles they've done.
