Hi, I'm Dave, and, like the rest of you, I have a car problem...

I got my new 2025 CT4 BW 6MT in late Sept, and have been enjoying it immensely. Currently at 2700mi, so been out of break in for a bit now. Already switched to all-season tires for winter (hasn't been cold yet, but it should be). Dealer balked at doing the first oil change before the oil life monitor indicated a need, so I did the oil change at 1500mi myself (need to get Race Ramps, and thankful this forum warned me about the filter being on crazy tight (it was), and recommended the right tool to remove it (worked great)). The car is 99% wonderful... it's fast, it handles great in most situations, it's comfortable, it's beautiful (especially from the front), and it has a lot of nice features (love that heated steering wheel and no roll back on hill starts). I love the Radiant Red color, but thought the Tech Bronze rims would be darker. Got PPF on the front-facing surfaces, and had the rims ceramic coated (for brake dust mitigation). I also put tinted vinyl over the orange side markers, which improves the look significantly (not shown in these photos). Still trying to decide how much tint to get on the windows, and considering what rims to get for the summer tires. I've met a few Blackwing enthusiasts in the area, and they've all been great, so looking forward to meeting more of you in person.

I'm coming from 21 years of driving a Subaru STi (2004 from 2003-2008, when it was stolen the 2nd time; replaced with a 2005 that was my daily driver until August of this year). As a friend put it, I switched from a boy's hotrod to a man's hotrod. The Blackwing is superior in almost every way (faster, better suspension, more comfortable, equivalent stopping (which is high praise), etc.), but it doesn't rotate as well (physics of a longer wheelbase and more weight, I suppose), and the STi was, how to put it... blissfully analog (e.g. literally the only nanny on my STi was anit-lock brakes, but it took me about an hour over multiple attempts to figure out how to tell the Blackwing to stop warning me of every upcoming school zone, which happen about every 3 miles in central NJ).

Overall, I couldn't be happier with the CT4-V Blackwing. It's just an awesome car.

Dave, I think all of us BW owner’s feel the same way. The cars are all around nice. Mine is a 22 CT5 BW. I didn’t buy it for the speed (specs say top speed is 200 mph), but for the acceleration. It doesn’t disappoint. My Texas plate is “0260N4S”. Zero to sixty in 4 Seconds. It certainly does that.

Welcome and good looking car. I was a 4G guy in an Evo for years. It was a fun boy hot rod as you put it. Welcome to adult-hood. Now start acting like it! :ROFLMAO:

Welcome cdas....great car & wheels (I like the bronze). I love the 4 V BW for all the reasons you state and for the very nice interior and dash layout (w hard buttons for stuff) etc. But I'm an analog guy and prefer smaller (fast/nimble) cars and our most recent new car before the BW is a 2012 so there much I'm still getting used too and that I will never love over my "old school". That being said this is easily the best car I've ever owned...and my first American car buy. Like me I think you'll be able to get over its "flaws" enjoy!

Hi Dave,

Welcome and the car looks great.

I’m also from Central Jersey - over on the shore side.

Mine is a 24 CT4 BW bought in July. Though I don’t have the miles on it I should have.

Enjoy the ride.

Steve

That's unlikely, but you can commiserate with my wife... I think she was hoping the change in cars would have me driving more like an old man, too. But nah, I've seen over .8g around turns in the Blackwing, and it still brings a smile to my face every time.

Thanks. I'm in central central NJ (Hillsborough). Enjoying it tremendously so far.

Thanks. That's an awesome plate; I'm still waiting for my custom plate to come in. I haven't played with launch mode or no-lift-shift, but I've seen under 5 sec just playing around in Sport mode without abusing the clutch. I still haven't been able to convince my brain to ignore 30+ years of experience driving stick, and muster the faith to even attempt a no-lift-shift. Any pointers?

Thanks. While I'm not yet convinced that all the changes are improvements (how is an electronic button-actuated parking brake a suitable replacement for a cable-actuated emergency hand brake?), some are great, and I agree with you that, overall, it is a superior experience.

hello -- I am also in central NJ

I have only seen two other 4BWs in the wild around here so far (Monmouth/Ocean), hope to see you around one day
