Media dumps

As a former Alfa Giulia owner and current Alfa Stelvio owner... the BW and the Alfas are on the exact same tier of interior quality.

There are pieces in the Alfa (volume knob, center console) that are Fisher-Price tier plastics and those are both pretty important touch points.

The interior tech is also miles behind. The center screen is pretty laggy.
But you probably get over these things because it drives great ! So much fake car enthusiasts regurgitating content these days to monetize on social media it's a sad sight to see...

Yes, that's exactly the point. There are always trade-offs.

It's just funny, and as you pointed out, fake, for him to hit Caddy for the exact same trade-offs that exist in the Alfa too (and I loved my Giulia and my wife loves her Stelvio, warts and all).

Porches are great and I’ve had three of them, but not worth the extra cash to buy and to maintain over the 4 or 5 BW.

I honestly don't know why anybody even with the means would spend that amount of dough on this? Completely, and utterly stupid in my book.

I bought all of mine used. The most pricey was the 2019 991.2 C4S with loads of options. Sticker was 147k and I was the second owner and paid 130k. After a year I realized that I just didn’t get along with it and traded it for the 4BW and put cash back in my pocket. The 997.2 I had was nice and it hit the mark between older analog feel with more modern options. I got it from Carmax at a great price before they took off in values. The 997.1 had a raw feel but it was starting to use oil as they tend to do when bore scoring starts to eat it up. You are pretty much assured a 997.1 S motor will score up, with a rebuild needed IF you can catch it in time. If not, gonna need a whole new motor that’s still need a rebuild. Glad I’m done with all that.

Argh, R&T might actually get $50 out of me for an annual membership with this one. Is anyone a member and can post the article?

Here is the summary section. Article pretty much says old m5 has faster throttle response but besides that caddy takes it all.

Not a BW review, but it's funny how without AWD and PDK helping out, a $280k 911 performs virtually identically to a manual, RWD 5BW:
Performance isn't the point of that car. It's an investment asset for the most loyal customers of the top Porsche dealers, a bit like having fine art or collectable wine.

Heh, I know a guy who paid $150k ADM for his. But they did give him two tickets to The Quail. So... $148k ADM...

You know the ironic thing.

Most of us are the target buyers for Porsche. We who prioritize feel/engagement over raw numbers. I totally see a Porsche in my future. Maybe not a gt version but a Porsche for sure.

Exactly....limited edition rwd manual with driver engagement focused...this is a collectible
Eh, maybe it's just me but the Sport Classic feels entirely cynical - it's not quite a sticker pack for the Turbo, but it's darn close to high-class version of that. No enthusiast I know would take one over a GT3 Touring.

I could stand corrected but over the long run a mint 5BW might be more collectible because it's more honest, even if it's not as rare. The 4BW and 5BW seem like they were designed to be a love letter to people who love the V formula, an enthusiast product to the core. That, plus if Cadillac keeps getting podiums at LeMans who knows?

The only problem is I can't stop driving mine so I guess collectability is moot

To the Porsche "collectors", since it will be made in lower numbers vs the GT3 it will be a collectable? so it will be a limited numbers model that will basically be stashed away. I hear you though, it's another model that will be made in limited numbers for whatever reason to make money. It harkens back to the last rwd turbo with a manual (964) which seems to resonate with some of the Porsche guys.
