V-Series Cadillac(s)?
‘25 CT5-V Blackwing MT
I picked up my BW today, and it’s fitted with the Ikon anti-theft device (a new age low jack basically). I downloaded the app, but can’t seem to figure out how to register my car. Their website says that for certain guarantees, the App has to be downloaded within 24 hours of purchase. The salesman at the ‘ship said that’s not true, but I’m inclined to believe the company’s site over fast talkin’ Willy (not his name, but you know what I mean). Anybody have experience with the Ikon App/device?

Did they add that on without your knowledge or consent?

I would NEVER buy any vehicle with an "after market alarm" installed. There's a larger dealer not too far from me who puts LoJack in every new and used car. I don't even consider them when looking for a vehicle.

Why would someone pay for a GPS tracker hard installed when you can use your phone for free on demand?? Isn't the basic OnStar stuff free that includes this if you want it (I don't want my car back if it's stolen).

Check under the dash, prob an OBD harness, pull that crap out and toss. Dealer will maintain access to your vehicle for however long you pay for the account.

They said that their GM has them install it on every car. I’m going to go back there and have them take it out and refund me if possible.

More then likely, in your documentation package, you signed a contract for the use of the Ikon system. They do this with LoJack as well. If you look closely in that contract, it will says something along the lines that it's NOT mandatory in order for the sale to occur, but dealers will give you the bs of how it's already installed, have to pay, blah, blah. the wording is fine print and meant not to be seen when you're signing the deck of paperwork.

That’s cool. I’ve been looking for this specific color, with this specific interior, and a MT ever since the 2025 were on order. I didn’t order one myself, but kept my eye out every day. It does not exist. I finally got lucky and found the exact car/package I wanted (minus the bronze wheels, so I am getting after market bronze wheels made). So I jumped on it the second I found it listed. It was listed on JD Power and nowhere else oddly enough, until about a week and a half ago. I thought it was a scam and called the dealership to be sure. I put a deposit down for it over a month ago when I found it was legit. Dude cancelled his order and ordered a different one because this one didn’t have a sun roof. I came up!

btw, if you want to find the device, as mentioned above, most likely interfaced with a harness via the OBD plug using a passthrough. You'll have a device that looks like this either zip tied, velcro, or taped somewhere under your driver side footwell area.

I pulled this from my wife's Ford Expedition that they snuck in...

NOTE: if they don’t give ya money back, pop it open, grab the sim, use it for a hotspot till expiration.

The dealer ship swindled me into it pretty much. I think it was like $300. They said their GM insisted it be on all vehicles. Ikon also pays for rental car while car is gone, and if the car isn’t found they put some money towards replacing it. That’d be helpful I guess. I am gonna go back next week and have them remove it/refund me if possible.

I’ll take a look. I’m guessing I’ll find it when I put my OBD blocker in. Hopefully they’ll take it back and refund me. Especially since the Ikon website says certain steps have to be taken within 24 hours for certain stipulations to be in effect. The dealership never said shit about that, and didn’t even install it until the day I picked it up.

Prob look something like this...

you have a MT........that IS an anti-theft device. Yank that spy thing out of there like right now, and get your money back. Who knows what this third company does with the data, possibly selling it to Lexus Nexus or some other data grabber. We went through this with GM when they were doing it.

Damn that looks fucking bulky. I didn’t see anything like that, but I’ll have to look further when I get the car back from the PPF/Ceramic place next week.

I mean, MT might ensure they don’t get far… but it won’t stop em from trying most likely. In one of the places I live (split between two) people steal cars just to go run em in a sideshow then ditch em… ESPECIALLY the CT5-V. Vallejo is pretty known for that.

My wife’s coworker had her MT car stolen out of their work garage in Oakland, and the thief only made it a block, but managed to kill the transmission in the process.

I’ve got a dash cam with GPS, an OBD blocker, and I’ll get an Air Tag to hide in there.

Absolutely going to take the car back to the dealership and have them uninstall and refund if possible. If not, it was a $300 lesson in a $125k purchase. 🤷🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

I have been thinking of something like this for my truck: Drop-In Kill Switch (Anti-Theft) - 41.22 Inc.

My son's baseball organization had a truck stolen at tournament. It happened overnight at a hotel. We are going to the same team tournament next month. At a minimum, I'll pull a fuse or relay under the hood.

Supposedly this device has that capability. They are able to shut it down and notify the authorities.

Dude told me a story about a car that got stolen from Reno and driven to LA. They were able to lock the thief out while he was in Costco and had the cops there waiting for him when he came out. Sounded good to me, though I’d prefer it not get stolen in the first place.

Which ODB blocker did you go with? Most seem like you can just pull them off. The only halfway decent ones require them to destroy the connector and hope they can't quickly re-terminate the cable.

I went with this one. For them to get it off they’d have to destroy the damn thing which defeats the purpose.

I haven’t put it on yet. I just got the keys/car yesterday and dropped it off to get wrapped/tinted. When I bring it home next week I’m gonna put on the blocker and install the dash A129 Duo Pro dash/rear cam. I’m also gonna buy a Club just for visual detergent when I’m out and about. I’m fucking anxious someone’s gonna try n steal it. I’ve never been before about a car, but I’ve also never paid 125k for a car until now. 🤷🏽‍♂️
