Engine Problem - Could use some advice

Interesting that engine issues are being seen so early and so often. Same basic motor went in the current ZL1 as well as the last Z06.
From what I’ve learned on my kerfuffle is that it’s not the same motor and the hand building process sets it apart. The RO for my motor replacement came out to around 50k and the long block was about 25 of that
C8 Z06’s came with hand built motors as well as a few ZL1’s.
C7 Z06 I think you meant to put. The ZL1 was a different supercharger slapped onto an LT4. The Z06 I don’t believe ever had hand built motors with the titanium valvetrain like the blackwings
The zo6 lt4 has a name plate of the builder on it. Atleast my buddies 2019 does.

The Z06 LT4 was hand built and have plaques (mine does). The LT4 in the ZL1 also started receiving plaques after 2019 I believe. The ZL1 LT4 is the same as the Z06 LT4 minus the dry sump. They have the same supercharger. The Escalade V is running the LT5 2.65L blower on its LT4 but the Blackwing (again without dry sump) uses the same engine as the ZL1 and Z06 with some slight revisions to exhaust, induction and a taller lid which gives it the 18hp over a Z06 or ZL1.

My ZL1 LT4 was hand built by Mr. Zach Lamb on the build plate. They were hand built when they could keep up with demand. It is cheaper to build them by hand for low production vehicles vs. retooling.

Z06 article.

Seriously though, I love reading and learning from everyone's experiences/research.

Update - no Update :(
After almost a month, no progress on my car. Service keeps saying that they are talking with GM and sending them files. They say they see a misfire in cylinder 6 but nothing they have tried so far has fixed it.
Everyone I have dealt with has been great but the lack of ability on GM's part to resolve the issue is getting beyond frustrating.
It is so bad I have set the radio stations in the loaner to my favorites, including Sirius. Maybe I shouldn't have purchased winter wheels/tires, I may not need them.
Seriously, I can't count the number of cars I have owned and have never experienced anything like this. I know these cars are complicated but with all the electronics; you would think they could diagnose something like this.
I guess I am done venting.

You only need four things to make it fire, Air/Fuel mixture, Compression, Spark and at the right time. It should not be hard to find out which of these is missing.

The issue is with how the manufactures handle warranty work. They wont let the dealership techs diag the problems anymore. They work under the strict guidance of the manufacture which adds a huge delay between each test, report, diagnosis and finally repair and verification.

So I am finding out. it shouldn't be this complicated. Everything is going through GM and they were pretty well shut down last week for the holidays.

Really. Hmmm.

As stupid as it sounds I was suffering from a misfire in my new motor after the new one was dropped in. Turns out the spark plug wires (because some genius decided that there still needs to be those on a car with coil packs) were loose and would slip off the connections. With the engine vibrations and bumps on the road, the wire on cylinder 7 popped off. It was an easy fix for me, hopefully it's something easy for you. I'm surprised they didn't just get a new motor shipped and dropped in. Maybe mine was extreme with the rod bearing delete package but if it's been a month I'd ask for a new motor and GM can figure out where they went wrong on this one.

Man I hope they sort it out, best of luck moving forward!

Closing in on 45 days and no joy. They have targeted the 6th cylinder and replaced ignition pack, plug, wire and now injector. They keep having to send files to GM and wait for GM to tell them what they can do next. I have talked with the service manager and the lead tech, all are frustrated but I have no idea how to push this forward. I actually have confidence in the local service team but GM is the bottleneck and they need to step up and get this resolved.

Cylinder 3 and 4 were the rod bearings that were devoured on my car. I would again just recommend for them to get you a new motor and let them figure out what went wrong with it. It's not your responsibility for their fuck up, especially if you've been out of your car for longer than a month.

100% AGREE

How's your car running now, hopefully good?

I assume they saw material in the oil to diagnose the rod bearings. Just seems like a lot of people have had major engine issues and that is discouraging.
