Dealer Software Update Req’d ‘23 CT4VBW

Just got a notice dated October 2024 that my BW needs a dealer software update. Anyone know what this is for?

The letter gives no details. I was just in the shop a few weeks ago and would have expected the update to have been completed then.

Just got the same letter in the mail for my 2023 CT4-V BW.

Description
Certain model years and vehicle makes noted in the table above may have a condition where the battery is at risk for a drain following an over-the-air update.

Repair Description
Dealers are to reprogram the serial data gateway module.

Received the same letter regarding my 2024 BW5. I was at my preferred dealer for an oil change about three weeks ago and they wanted to perform said update while I was there. Their Blackwing specialist had quit a few days before my scheduled appointment and hadn't been replaced by a trained Blackwing technician. I refused both the oil change and update. This dealership just changed ownership and is in turmoil. A number of people left and I wasn't going to trust my car to just anybody. I'll be looking for a new preferred dealer.

My dealership (SW OH) is just a general GMC dealer. I had them do an oil change and the update at the same time and everything was completed within a few hours without issue. The techs were all really surprised I let my 18 yo drive it there for service.
