Considering buying a buyback 5BW - blown motor issues resolved?

My E92 is on its third water pump (thank you BMW for making the face plastic), new valve cover gasket at 90k, timing solenoids at 95k, alternator at 100k, oil pan gasket at 110k. GM needs to build my damn 4BW already so I can retire the money pit.
The water pump failures were so widespread on these

Yeah, my E92 335i went through that. By the time it happened to me, they (I think) kinda knew what to do, so I got a new pump and new programming for the DME, or whatever computer monitors the pressure. I suspected that they didn't really fix the pump problem, but just changed the parameters of what was considered a failure. All I know is that the car never ran right after that, and I got rid of it.

They definitely fixed it because I had a before and after their final fix. But iirc mine was after the 6th different attempt from BMW to fix those HPFPs. Mine never failed after and really ran great. But every iteration in between was a cluster for BMW.

I think the quickly went away from that design in the next version of that I6 because of all the pump issues.
 
My wife's 07 335i had 2 HPFP replacements then was good until 140,000+ miles when we sold it.

It needs to said on every forum: Even if you see a 100 posts on an LT4/LSA/LS6/S63/B58/N54 engine failure that is less than 1% of the numbers on the road. Shit happens, that's what the warranty is for. It's also why I think an old car with low miles is higher risk since it didn't even get past the infant mortality phase.
