Audi S6 vs CT5-V Blackwing!!

I don;t think the new M2 comes with a manual as of last year. Besides I just don't like it as much as the prior gen - even though performance (by the numbers) would appear better.M3/M4 have just gotten way too big for me....4 BW is on the outer edge of size/weight for me. And I agree - new BMWs are not what BMW once was - and that's a great shame. These Caddys though are just great cars and I'm so glad they were an option and that I went for it.
Just drove a 2024 yesterday at the dealership, powder, blue with tan interior. Lots of fun

Good to hear...I still have a soft spot for the M2...even more for the 1M which I wish I bought at the time...

I also had an opportunity to buy a 1M because of a previous buyer cancelling his order. But unfortunately, I was having knee problems and a clutch just would not work. I love the looks of that car. The orange was a fantastic color.

I just confirmed (you had me doubting myself, briefly) that the new M2 comes with either the manly manual or the girlie automatic (no charge) in the new G87 platform. I agree that it's not as attractive as the previous gen, and I would not buy one. Plus, I had the previous gen and it was just kind of brutal, but not in a fun way like (I presume) a Hellcat would be.

For all of you girls that prefer/need/want an auto, I'm just yankin' your chain. I know a manual isn't for everybody, and if I lived in some gawdawful place like LA or Chicago, I might have to get an auto for my DD.
Bad example. The manual in either of those locations acts as a theft deterrent which is strongly suggested if you're in the hood.

Yup that orange....man.

Around 15+ or so years back I had a wicked torn meniscus...luckily for MT was the right knee. But man oh man....after 6 months of excruciating daily pain, difficulty walking etc I was going to opt for surgery when it suddenly got just a bit better....probably took 6+ more months to be at least near normal...of course last summer I tore another in the same knee....not as bad...but still painful....just dealing with it. Lucky for me my best friend is a chiropractor that does lots of advanced PT that helps amazingly well.

So I also have (and have had for years) 2 seriously blown out discs in my lower back. He's helped with them immensely and they mostly are not a problem now. But I still drove my Audi with a very touchy racing clutch even with sciatic pain down my left leg...every shift painful. My daily commute was around 70 miles each way - a good deal in mountain twisties. Anyway - never thought to go automatic....what can i say? I also had 1/2 hour walk to get to my desk and after back to the car....every day.

And some of that was with a knuckle in my right big toe that had lost 75% of the cartilage....that my friend is no picnic either. (I waited 5 years to get it fused....lol)...I'm only recently able to wear any kind of shoe at all and still with some pain. Merrils mostly is all I can handle...but I pretty much wear Birkenstock's year round...even when driving...though not the best. I drove all the way from Atlanta to DC with my Birkenstocks when i bought the BW.

I'll need to get some comfortable track shoes for when i do Spring Mountain...can't see doing track in the Birkees.

I love everything about the 1M (more than any M2 or 3/4). It, the M coup and roadster (1st gen?) and of course the E46 (M & ZHP) are my favorite BMWs all time...

I also love the M2, E46 and ZHP. I have had them all, but the Blackwing is still my favorite. I could really throw the E46 around and it loved to be driven fast and it was easy to drive fast except when I took the traction control off in the rain. Boy did that car fishtail and it overcorrected suddenly. Didn't do it again. The ZHP was a very special car that had incredible steering and handling. The interior was also great. I wish I still had that car.

I too had 2 meniscus tears and PT was the saving grace. 9 months to recover from the first tear in the left knee and only 5 months to recover on the right one. The difference was that I started PT the day after my tear in the right knee. Also, I was at the chiropractor twice in the first week after the tear.

The ZHP is mostly pretty planted...was better on the summer tires it originally came with but the all season Michelines do almost as well. I've occasionally had the car wiggle out on me (in turns while accelerating). Mostly I leave traction control on....but on occasion I will turn it off when I want to throw the back around a bit. When it does lose it though it can be pretty frightening. With its near perfect 50-50 balance it seems to want to spin when you lose it.

Ours is pretty quick. I was once able to stay essentially right on the bumper of an E46 M3 doing a 1/4+ run. Back in the day on a BMW forum folks were skeptical of my claims about what I could keep with and beat....but all true. Still, aside from our old Mustang (thats no slouch) its the slowest car we currently own. I am able to get the most out of a car - particularly ones I'm familiar with. Though often, driving friends fast cars - they are amazed how much quicker I can be with them then what they can do....lol
