5BW - Gas guzzler tax

Stupid question: Is the Gas Guzzler tax built into the MSRP or is it added at the time of sale like a sales tax? It is noted under the gas mileage on the window sticker but not detailed within the MSRP.

When did that change? I agree with you, but not that long ago, 2017, GM had it as a separate item.

Window sticker shows what the tax is in the Fuel Economy section but there is no separate charge for that amount on the rest of the sticker. Presumably now built into MSRP.

I hope you're right, but I think it may be added at time of sale... just like sales tax is.

I just checked my purchase order and there was no gas guzzler tax added. Just MSRP, NY state registration & inspection, and NY state sales tax. Could possibly differ by state where some states require it as a separate charge. But not NY.
