It's because the Blackwings are halo cars. The reason they exist is to generate a ton of good/free press, a little bit of money, good will and brand loyalty among their owners, and to orient the Cadillac brand as sport/performance/power/enthusiast-driven. They know that those of us who are die hard enthusiasts and are buying Blackwings don't mind, in general, the process of waiting to get the goodies. The advertising is not to sell the cars to us, they already had us since the cars were first reported on in Car and Driver. The point of the ads is to set the tone for the brand so people don't feel bad for selling their soul and ordering an XT5 or whatever.
