Hi guys

Just picked up a 24 5bw.. love it… only issue is sporadically my passenger side front window will not go up when I use my driver door controls. It will go all the way down but not respond when prompted to go up. This will be the case for about one minute then will start working again. All my other windows work during this period. I have a friend with the same issue with his bw but it’s his drivers door window. Any insights?

Are you trying to close the window from the drivers seat or the switch on the shotgun door? Replacing the switch is probably not a difficult one once you have the clips removed from the door.

Yep I already took my car in for this very same issue, except with the passenger rear window. If I lower the window all the way it's fine. But when it needs to go up, it will only go up to the water mark on the window. Then it will only go back down and not up.

Dealer was able to replicate it easily so it didn't look like it was just me being crazy. BUT they said they fixed it by cleaning the rails and putting new grease.

A few days later when I drove the car again. SAME THING.

So she's going back. Dealer told me if it happened again they were going to replace the regulator so hopefully that fixes it.

Yup, seem to have a similar issue with my drivers side front window. Just has happened twice.
Next time I take it in, Going to get them to look at it.

Mine does it randomly and not just 1 certain window. Hard for them to troubleshoot it when its so random and when it fix itself. When mine does it, cant roll it up with the driver side masterswitch, but if I go to the switch for that window, it works. So to me points to the masterswitch in my case.

yeah it's weird I've driven my car twice now, lowered and raised my windows multiple times and it's not done it again.

Stupid gremlins

This happened to me once, driver's front window, it wouldn't go up. It acts like the switch is ignored by the computer (that's my theory). Eventually it worked (a few minutes later) but if I wanted a car with flaky electronics, I would have stayed with BMW! :hb

True. Window is doing it again for me. So I'll be taking it to the dealership to have them replace the regulator or the window switch. They said they would have to keep it for a bit to test different possibilities. Oh well she sits in the garage too much already lol

Same issue randomly with my driver side - goes down but not up for a few minutes. Will bring it up with the dealer next time I go in for oil change
