V-Series Cadillac(s)?
‘25 CT5-V Blackwing MT
Been reading on here for a lil while, and now that I’m picking up my ‘25 CT5 BW this week, I thought I’d introduce myself.

Grew up in Truckee driving off road and in heavy snow conditions. So my only experience with any kind of sports car was an Eagle Talon, a Merc Capri, and a 6 banger Mustang. My only 8 cyl was a Silverado.

I figure since a lot of y’all have been drivers and enthusiasts for decades, maybe y’all could lace my boots. Any suggestions or advice for a first time big boy sports car would be much appreciated.

Looking forward to getting to know and share with y’all.

(Will post pics when I pick the car up this week)

Traction control is your friend. Congratulations of a fantastic car!
Thanks man. Living in Northern California I’ll be dealing with a lot of rainy days, so I’m hoping that from October through May some R/S or A/S tires will keep it safe. I was more worried about a blowout if the sidewalk cracks on the Summer Tires (due to cold temperatures).

Seems like there’s very polarized opinions about whether that happens or not. There’s dudes driving on em with apparently no probs, and there’s dudes that found it damaged their tires after short distances in the cold.

Since it seems like I won’t be able to get all season or winter tires on it before pick up, I’ll be finding out which side of the coin I live on.

Given your past car history, I think you’re really going to enjoy the blackwing! What color, 6MT or auto, and any specific options you had to have? It’s gonna be a fun week for you. As for tips, are you planning any window tint or PPF?

I got so lucky.

I’ve had my eye out for the Typhoon Metallic, Tan Inerior, Carbon 1, Bronze package, Parking Package, and a Manual transmission. I couldn’t find it anywhere. All of the Typhoon Metallic ones I could find had the black interior and were automatics. I thought I was going to have to special order it, the Cadillac website said it didn’t exist.

A week ago while doing my daily search though, the JD Power website said the exact one I was looking for (minus the bronze wheels, but with the bronze calipers) was in transit to Reno. I didn’t believe it. I called the dealership and sure enough, somebody had ordered that car then decided they wanted something different. I figure I can just buy some bronze or even gold wheels after I get the car. I even talked the dealership down from 10k over MSRP to 2k over. The salesman I’ve been dealing with is going to try to get me the wheels too, so we’ll see.

I just found out today that the delivery is postponed until the 20th though. I’ve heard that’s not uncommon.

What’s yours like? How long have you had it? Any tips you got?

That spec sounds perfect. Green on black/tan seats with a manual and CF1. Great find! I think you gotta find some of the factory bronze wheels as it will go so well with that color scheme. I have them on my coastal blue and it goes well together.

Definitely sign up for spring mountain class since it is not far from you, free, and a blast. You will learn what the car can do safely.

Yeah man… the fact that it didn’t have the bronze wheels was almost a deal breaker. But I can use the Graphite finish ones for winter tires, and the Bronze ones (when I get them) for the summer tires.

The blue was my second choice

It happens. These are summer run flats which came on the car. I'm in SF Bay area so not too cold but not enough side wall support. I've replaced two for side wall damage

Damn man! I split my time between Portola and Vallejo… so if the summer tires can’t handle the Bay Winter, I’m 4sho gonna have to get another set of wheels with some all seasons. Living in Truckee we had to do that. Have a set of super swamper tires for the truck during the summer, and a set of studded snow tires for the winter.

Like you I really wanted the bronze wheels (on my CT 4 V BW)....but were not on the car I ended up purchasing new from a lot in Atlanta. I purchased some very nice Apex bronze wheels for my summer tires and used the OEM graphite wheels for my snows. I would advise you to try to source some performance snows for the winter and not (compromised) all seasons....just my take...

I will absolutely be trying to find winter tires. It just seems like they don’t exist. The Alpin or Sotozeros seem like the best choice, but I can’t find em anywhere.

I feel your pain. It took me forever to source my Alpines a little over a year ago. My guess is that it might be easier to find them this summer....but unsure of continuing availability. Not ideal. I agree that the Alpines or Sotozeros seem the best options performance wise. Good luck!
