Almost sounds like the car is “readjusting” itself. Makes about a 5 second buzzing sound. When you open the door and get out?

Normal. I used to carry my keys on my when walking thru the garage and it would make that noise and light up every time. I think it's a head light leveling routine but am not sure.

My 5V makes noises anytime I am around it with the key or open/close a door. If I jostle it too much, it will put on the brake (did that when I was torqueing the lug nuts). :) The surround camera will also take video if it's spidey senses are tickled.

Oh yeah, I'm so used to just PDR that I forget there's a surround video nanny that fires up.

Guys read the manual, page 132,734, anytime the owner or authorized party get with in six feet, the car will wake from slumber in hopes of being driven and respond with joyful lights and various sounds. It's all OK it just means she loves you.

If everyone in my life greeted me the way my dog and my Blackwing do, I'd never have an unhappy day...lol

I believe the inquiry was related to leaving the car, not approaching it. I've noticed on mine when leaving that some sort of buzzing is going on but never paid enough attention to it assuming it was just part of the shutdown process.

Many cars will pressurize fuel and brake systems when they detect you approaching. No idea about the noise when leaving the car, but I have heard this as well. Just mark it up as magic stuff in the background.

Yes the old girl does show her sadness when you shut it down. There are a number of systems that remain energized until you get at least six feet from the vehicle.

Yeah, I turned that feature off right away since every time I walked in to the garage the car would wake up with locator lights, etc. Nice feature, but overkill and a bit annoying anytime you walk by the car with the key in your pocket.

Not me, I love the whole eager beaver vibe, of course I rarely have the key on me in the garage unless I'm going to use it.

The only time this bothers me is when I'm at a car show...
Carry a faraday pouch for your key. :) Hmm...just thought... that might be a good place for key signature thieves to hang out. Could be some added protection, if you're paranoid. :)

The sound after shutdown sounds like the HVAC diverter cycling. I wonder if the car automatically opens up to allow fresh air in when you shut it down or something?

There is this feature that was initiated several years ago to help prevent moisture buildup and musty smell in the HVAC system.

Afterblow Feature
If equipped, under certain conditions,
the fan may stay on or may turn on
and off several times after you turn
off and lock the vehicle. This is
normal.

What if you never use the HVAC system? Literally, I never use AC even during summer months and my BW hibernates once its cold out. Come to think of it, I never even tested it. Only had it since 12/22/2021

FWIW, I always read it was important to run your HVAC from time to time so the refrigerant lubricates the seals/o-rings, otherwise you risk drying them out and developing leaks. Here is a good write-up on it.

So, it has been in the OFF position the whole time? IDK what the scenario might be in that case.
