2023 CT5-V Blackwing
Driving around town on a beautiful 70 degree Saturday afternoon. I was not driving overly aggressive, taking off from a stoplight, I shifted into second gear around 4k rpms, then into third around the same... at that time I heard a "POP" from under the hood and a warning popped up on the dash that said something about "reduced acceleration". A couple seconds later, gray/black smoke was coming out of the hood. I pulled into a turn lane and killed the engine, gave it a minute to cool and the smoke stopped. When I looked under the hood the serpentine belt was shredded and broken. Towed to the dealer and fast forward to today.

The service advisor said that the supercharger was seized and they needed to replace it. Problem is, it's on backorder with no release date. He also said this is the first time they'd ever seen this before. Anyone ever heard of or experienced a supercharger failure on these?

For reference, the car is a 2023 5V BW, 6mt, all stock, with 1,300 miles.

Very unfortunate. Sorry its happened !! Hope the part comes in soon.

I've heard of some bearing failures on the LT4 superchargers.

My previous 2017 Camaro ZL1 had a bad bearing in the supercharger idler pulley. It made a God-awful squealing noise and vibration. So yes, bearings related to the supercharger can be defective and ultimately cause the supercharger to seize. Was your engine making any weird noise before this happened?

No weird noises or vibrations at all. Very abrupt.
