Hello everyone. Decided and ordered a '25 BW. I'm from Missouri and have a lot of questions (that my dealer doesn't seem to be able to answer). This is my first performance sedan. I've primarily owned Classic muscle cars and currently have a '13 C6 427 LS7 (Lingenfelter built) Corvette convertible. I suspect I may be a bit older than most of you (I'm 62 and retired).
In any event I ordered my BW at my dealer the day the configurator went live a few weeks ago.
My questions are:
How long will it take before I know when the order is accepted by (GM) and a production date scheduled?
It seems to be so difficult to get these (what seem to be) simple answers? If there are threads on this topic please steer me in the right direction. Thanks and I look forward to interacting with all of you.
Steve.

Welcome! Your lingenfelter vette sounds awesome. For the blackwing, your order will be accepted by GM when your dealership receives an allocation AND they assign it to your order assuming there are no constraints on any of the options you selected. Make sure to ask how many blackwing allocations your dealership received in past couple years to get an idea if they’ll get many allocations or not. If not, find a higher volume blackwing dealer. I got mine out of state as my local dealers wanted extra money over msrp. Good luck!

Welcome Steve.

In answer to your question, it's hard to say when your order will be accepted by GM. Orders are based upon a dealer's allocation.

There is usually two ordering cycles per month where GM hands out allocation to dealers.

Allocation is basically an order slot.

How much allocation a dealer receives is based upon many factors - how many units of a particular model that dealer sold - how long were those units sitting on the dealer's lot before they were sold, etc.

Another factor is constraints. A constraint is basically a production restriction due to lack of availability. So for example, GM may tell a dealer, "for this order cycle, we are only accepting orders that do not include, exposed carbon fiber seat-backs." Or, "we are only accepting orders that do not include Tech Bronze wheels."

So, a dealer can submit an order into GM's Global Connect - Order Workbench system at any time, but that order will sit in the system at status 1100, until allocation is given to that dealer, and that dealer assigns your order to an allocation spot. Once they do, the order will go to status 2000 - accepted by GM.

Between status 3300 - 3400 is when a VIN is assigned to your order, and a TPW (Targeted Production Week) date is assigned.

For complete descriptions of each order code, see this thread:

For example: I submitted an order for 2025 Colorado ZR2 Bison Edition around November 4th. 2024 Colorado production was winding down and 2025 production was set to begin around the first week of December. There were 2025 production constraints for four-wheel drive and the leather interior that's standard in the ZR2 model. Those constraints were set at percentages - so GM would only accept a certain percent of dealer orders with those configurations.

Then there's the whole issue of the dealer having to "earn the constraint" which is based upon what other dealers are submitting for orders, my dealer's turn-around time on Colorados, etc. Yes....it's a convoluted mess! :ROFLMAO:

My order was eventually accepted with allocation on 12-4-2024. On December 17th, it jumped to status 3400 - VIN assigned, and a TPW date of 1-27-2025.

TPW dates can shift as well based upon factory production rates, issues, etc.

So...as you can see, it's not an easy answer as to when you'll see your 2025 Blackwing. It's a confusing system that consists of many factors and formulas. That's why dealers can't give you concrete dates. They can only give assumptions.

How do you find out what your current order status number is? I don’t think bot on the Cadillac website has this information.

You have to get it from the dealer.

Most salesmen do not have GM Global Connect accounts. The managers do. So you'll have to contact your salesman and they'll have to have a manager log-in and run your order number through Order Workbench.

An alternate way to get your order status is to get your order number from your dealer, setup an account on Cadillac.com, then you can ask the chat bot (in the lower right) "status for order #abcd32."

The bot does not give you the order status number.

You can ask for an advisor and a live person will join the chat. Then ask for the event code.

Thanks for all the detailed info everyone. Really appreciate it. I guess I would have never expected that in today's (somewhat depressed) economy I would have to beg an auto manufacturer to sell me (what listed out to be) a $138,000 car! And pay cash for it no less. That's w/o the Precision PKG! Add full body PPF, Paint correction and ceramic coating AND new wheels (because quite frankly) I don't like any of the "stock" choices, you're at north of $150K. My wife actually talked me out of buying a resto modded gen 1 Bronco. Not because of the money (they were actually north of $200k) but because all the custom builders were hundreds of miles away from our home and "tweaking" these kinds of vehicles is a guarantee eventhough the vehicle is basically all new (frame, chassis, Gen 5 Coyote motor all the bells and whistles. The four builders I interviewed had 3-5 year wait list. Now I try to order this BW and have no idea if they'll even build me one!
The thing is like a unicorn. Cadillac doesn't say how many will be built other than to keep listing the phrase "extremely limited availability". When my buddy (another big car guy did a basic search on cars.com we found close to like 50 2024 that had discounts upwards of $12-$15k off list. I really however, want a 2025.
I look forward for to finding out more info. Keep it coming and thank you all again!

Hey I received good news today. My '25 BW order went into 2000 Status with one constraint. No carbon fiber pkgs that I ordered. I'm assuming then I can buy them through the dealership and have both sets put on correct? I believe, however, the dealer charges slightly more than if they were ordered from the factory.

That means it got picked up for a build. Once it goes into the 3000s, then its in production status and will be built the following month.

As far as ordering CF parts, availability will be your first issue. Diffuser, rear spoilers are the same, sideskirts should be too but with the refresh, not sure if the mounting points are the same under the front fenders. Front spoiler is unique so that will probably be the hardest one to procure. If you couldnt order it due to constraint, chance of having it available on the shelf part will be close to nil.

Cost will be a crap load more too. $5600 for the CF1 and $6730 for CF2. Piecing them together, OEM front spoiler and rear spoiler (part of CF1) are about $32-3400 per. Just those two parts are already over the cost of CF1. Then you still have the 2 side front deflectors and sideskirts. Front deflectors were $800 EACH ($1600 for 2 small pieces on the bumper). Skirts were $1600 each side. So its definitely cost prohibitive, specially if going OEM parts.
