V-Series Cadillac(s)?
2022 CT4 BW
Pulled off my summer tires today, and was totally surprised to find this wicked split in my front tire. In all honesty, I'm surprised this didn't kill me because I get up the road fairly quickly sometimes, and this was just asking for it to blow out and send me over the guardrail.
So a couple of questions here for the armchair experts.

A) anyone had this experience with their tires on their BW?
B) These tires were the original summer tires on the car when I purchased with 10,000 miles, now they probably have about 14,000 miles on them.
C) It's just this one front tire that is this way, while the other is ok, however I've noticed that both tires have more inner lip wear than outer.
Not horrendous, but more wear than there should be.
D) Is this indicative of a toe in or alignment problem on my front end? Vehicle doesn't seem to pull or handle any differently while this was happening.
Only noticed when i took tires off.
E) Looking to purchase new summer tires next season, not crazy about the Michelins, any suggestions on alternatives with fairly good mileage rating?

I am running the track alignment and have that wear but haven’t let it get down to where it split like yours. I align myself and know the toe is correct, so it must be the camber.

My theory is that if you do a lot of long highway driving with the track alignment that part of the tire gets very hot and starts to wear rapidly. I don’t see that kind of wear with the track alignment if all I do are shorter trips.

Maybe the original owner tracked the car frequently or kept it in a track biased alignment? Or maybe he damaged it hitting a pothole? So hard to know the history of a used performance car.

If your mounting new tires, safe bet is to get an alignment done regardless. One of my rear tires blew out on my Z06 (cup 2s) with 2000 miles on the highway, all other tires were fine. Alignment came back ok a well. Suspect I ran over something.

Since you bought it used its hard to say what the original owner did to the car. I'd get an alignment, new tires and move on.

As for what tires I'd probably stick with the 4S but Conti xtreme contacts are also a cheaper option and still a good tire.

I had the exact same wear on my CTV with 12,000 miles. Other work that took precedence at the dealer (oil pan replacement) so they did not check alignment until after that work, which did affect the alignment anyway. So no evidence to support a cause. I had thought we had an alignment issue on toe, as camber would have worn more area on the inside. They did discover some problems with steering and there is a theory that there was, in effect oscillation or wobble. They did replace steering components. WOuld suggest you keep at least one tire when you go to dealer and have them check alignment and steering electronics. Hopefully you have warranty coverage!!

Yup, had the exact same issue with both tires on the same axle. Had plenty of tread and was shocked when I lost tire pressure on a local trip to find this issue was so severe i had to stop and fill the tire every couple of miles trying to limp home. I check my tire tread most trips to the gas station (meaning at least once a week) and totally missed the issue because I was only checking the tread face and couldn't see the inside shoulder.

Come to think if it, I haven't checked for this recently...I guess I'll be digging out the QuickJack later today!

I had similar wear, with about 15000 street miles and 12 track sessions. This one fell apart right after I took it off, but I knew it was it's last outing before I went out.

I’m in the exact same situation. I put my car up in the air last weekend for an oil change and saw the damage. No idea how long I was driving on it like this, so thanking the man upstairs that I’m still here to talk about it. Tires had 27k miles so I probably pushed them too far. Getting new TPC spec tires from Costco today then headed for an alignment.

That is a lot of outer treads to remaining for 27k mi!

I know right? Was hoping I could get some more out of them. I do not track the car and it's my daily for a 60 mile mostly highway commute. Rears look pretty good as well.
