Has anyone who has done a complete brake job with rotor and pad replacements experienced a clunking sound coming from the rear brakes after? I think it’s due to the EPB and it needing to be calibrated after to ensure it stays tight to the new rotor surface, but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this. The new rotors are Girodisc and I’ve gone over everything 3 times now to make sure everything was installed per the GM service manual. With the EPB off, I can pull it away from the brake rotor pretty easily and it makes the noise that I think is occurring when I drive over bumps. There are no audible noises coming from the main brake calipers during any braking operation. The clunking sound I hear only occurs at slower speeds, roughly anything under 40mph, when I drive over bumpy roads. The GM service manual states that the parking brake might need to be calibrated after rotor/pad replacement, but I can’t find any information about what the calibration actually does. I did not replace the EPB pads. The parking brake is tight when active, but appears to get very loose when it is turned off.

Are you sure its not the new pads rattling in the calipers? How are you able to isolate the sound to the EPB caliper and not the brake calipers? The brake pads are huge and have a lot of mass, so unless you went with OEM Brembo pads, it's likely the tension springs are not engineered as well as the OEM version and they are rattling. Lightly apply the brakes as you drive over bumpy road surface and see if the noise stops.

The new tension spring and clips applied more pressure than what was present on the ones i removed. I have applied light brake pressure as you suggested and the noise still occurred when driving over bumps. Which would suggest that something is still moving with the brakes applied. It was very easy to move the EPB by hand without it activated, which is why I believe that is the issue.
