One of the door handles on my Blackwing is a bit loose.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think fixing the issue means removing the interior panel of the door. I've never done that and I don't want to cause myself problems.

Think I'll let the dealer do it when I take it in for an oil change. I hate taking the car in for oil changes but the "beauty" features on my Road Atlanta IMSA mean I can't get a floor jack under it w/o risking expensive damage.

And, since my GM card means I get free, only costs me some "points". Don

I've noticed it too on my IMSA. I can wiggle the handle in an up and down motion that leaves about a 2-3mm gap from the door. This is at the base of the handle that is supposed to rest against the door itself. I notice the back passenger as the worst but all 4 have it.

My local dealerships charge $210 per hour labor ! I would take it to a body shop and get it fixed for much cheaper.
***But if its a warranty issue, let the dealer do it.
Thanks for the info, I'll call the dealership and see what they say. If it's absurd like $210/hr or anywhere near, I'll research options. Don

hey @DonD , which door handle was this and was it on the inside or the outside? I have a loose exterior rear door handle and I cannot figure out what kind of screw they use to secure the door handle on the interior bracket. It is definitely an allen, but everything I have tried size wise is loose or wont slot. Oddly, it looks like I might need a 3.5mm allen??? cant find any service manuals that specify the correct size and chilton on hagerty shows what to do, just no sizes.

the screw below is seen from the door after removing the rubber cover.

Crappy pic from chilton, but picture the rear door open and you are looking straight at it.

I checked mine. Seems like a Torx T25 fits.

@Dirkbg It worked like a charm. thanks! I now remember why i dont wrench though. Got the door handle back on tight and snug and then went to put the sealer cap back on the screw hole and I accidentally pushed the FREAKING THING IN and it fell inside the door! WTF!

for the curious, replacement part is here:

You're going to be hearing that thing rattle inside of the door for years to come 🤪

Back in my auto body days.....a trick we used for broken glass down inside the door that couldn't get vacuumed or blown out. We would get out as much as we could and then spray undercoating spray with the straw tip into the bottom of the door. Open/close the door a few times to get any loose glass to get some undercoating on it. When it dried, the glass was stuck forever. A plastic piece won't make any noise. You are good.

I've got some loose door handles. I may give this a shot. To clarify, remove the rubber cap, then tighten the T25 torx? Or does the whole door handle need to come off to tighten it down? Thanks!

Almost (also, this is for rear doors, not sure if different for fronts)

1.) remove rubber cap
2.) ensure door handle is pushed tight and flush against panel while doing #3
3.) tighten with T25 Torx (if i recall correctly might be reverse thread, cant remember. Dont overtighten, it should only take 10-12 turns at max to be at fully tightened)
4.) GENTLY massage the rubber cap back on, otherwise you will do exactly what I did and push it in by accident!

If that doesnt work, its possible your inside door assembly unit that the outside door handle screws into is loose on the inside which is a whole other instruction set.

Good luck!
