V-Series Cadillac(s)?
2022 CT5-V Blackwing MT (Current), 2012 CTS-V Wagon MT (past)
I started a list of the reported blown motors on this forum. It's far from scientific because not all people who have had this issue are on the forum, and not all on the forum who have had an issue will post about it, but I'm hopeful it will shed some light on the failure modes if nothing else.

At a glance it seems to be an issue with every model year, the bottom-end tends to give out at fairly low miles, and the lifters can fail at pretty much any mileage. I didn't include transmission but it seems like it's happened for both manuals and autos.

If I've tagged you here and you have a correction or an update, let me know.

I'd like to ask you to include any other CONFIRMED blown motors that you find also, so we can try to have a more comprehensive list; the Car & Driver one for instance.
Thanks for starting this.

If I hear of something outside of the forum I'll add it, but so far C&D's is the only other one I've heard of.

I wouldn't take this as anything close to comprehensive, but part of the reason for creating this thread was that I saw lots of 'blown motor' threads with tons of posts, so I'd assumed dozens of motors have blown on this forum. I mean, 11 out of ~1600 cars in the registry is still not great, mind you; statistically speaking I'd be better off with a Lexus... but I just can't do it! 🤞:D

Sorry you guys are going through this BS. Been through it myself.
Be nice if the transmission type could be added to this spreadsheet as well.

Where can we find the total production numbers for the 2022/2023/2024/ 5BW broken down by year and transmission?

I have all of the 2022 CT5-V Blackwings in the Registry, but I still have a long way to go to enter all of the 2023 - 2024 and 2025s built...

I'd like to see who built all of them. If theres a higher number from one person over the other, there could be an underlying cause there

I'd be more interested in knowing which batch of parts each failing piece came from. There should be a Lot# for all of them that could be traced back to each motor they were used in. You're giving too much credit to those name plates on the top. They aren't machining a thing. Just turning wrenches based on specs essentially.

Yep, plenty of discussions about this on the other blown motor threads. It's almost certainly a design or part manufacturing defect and not likely to be all down to some rogue incompetent engine builder. You can bet that's the first thing GM would have checked in common with all the blown motors, and that person wouldn't still be building engines from MY2022 thru MY2024.

Good thought and there is a trail for it I'm sure @1Evil55 , however I "wrenched" for 30 years at specs. Certified equipment, shit fails..... 30 years clean Tech Inspects supports my editorial as a "wrench turner" and when you do it right, its right on your end....COVID shit show may have a play and there may be a hangover lingering still. Just my opine. Healthy over here thankfully so far. Watching...listening. Good reads!

Editorial.....GM/Cadillac can and should release a public notice to owners with balls on what they know???.....their best selling product since 2022? They're not continuing to build them for loss of profit. Love the car, hate the f!@#$%^ politics'. Do it right GM...

No doubt some hangover still lingers from 'rona. Blasting the builders name is going to get a number of others into a paranoid tizzy for the remainder of their ownership. I'd hate to have that thought constantly. Thank god for our warranties!

Oh oh oh, you might be up to something. I remember when I bought my C6 Z06, the talk of the town was titanium wearing at a different rate and LS7 dropping valves. I just remembered that manual cars have something titanium in the engine. I wonder if it's causing any issues? My auto BW had over 4k miles and it was flawless. My manual only lasted 2100 miles. Auto saw track twice and abuse every single day. Manual was babied and still died :(

The titanium connecting rods are in the 4 BW with the manual not the 5 BW.

Someone needs to clarify this , because the way I see it CT5 BW HAS TITANIUM RODS!
Of course I could be wrong 🧐

I'd be shocked if I was wrong although, there's a first time for everything. 😉

Oh, thank you for the correction. After LS7, titanium makes me very nervous. I know LT4s in corvettes have no major issues from what I can tell, so I wonder if it's just a bad batch of something that's causing only handful engines fail.

True, and you would be shocked to find out what happens at huge corporations, and govt for that matter. If that individual exists, they were promoted to production supervisor and are now in charge of all Blackwing motors. I wish I was just making this up but I have factual evidence.

Hey at least it gets them out of the way of doing the real work

Wait, was this a veiled shot at us Chicagoans?
