Hey guys,
I am curious if anyone has experience with different tires on their BW. I've run the rear tires down to 3/32 and the fronts are about 5/32 so I am looking at doing all 4 tires (just crossed 8k miles and no track days). The car is a semi-daily driver but I have other vehicles for bad weather/cold.
I do really like the TPC-spec PS4S and don't really have too many complaints (I run the PS4S on 2 other sportscars currently and am a fan). However, I also like to experiment with tires and my eyes are drawn to the Falken Azenis RT660s on sale at Tirerack. I loved the older Azenis 615s on my Evos in years past and the idea of an even stickier tire for the BW is tempting. I know they would be noisier and stiffer, but I am fine with that for the most part.
Continental also offers their excellent ECS02 for our cars so that is another one to consider. I have run the Yokohama Apex 601s on a Civic Type R and was not impressed with their cornering grip, although they rode nicely and were quiet; the Potenza Sports on the same car were flipping incredible so maybe I will consider those, too, but they wear very quickly when driven hard.
I know the TPC-spec Michelins have a lot of SportCup2 goodness in them, which makes them pretty sticky to begin with, and I thought they worked pretty well at Spring Mountain even on 100+ degree days. for a street tire.
Thoughts? Thank you.
