Same camp here! Most winter days are dry and relatively salt free here in SE Michigan, no reason to drive something boring instead of the Blackwing. Every sports car I’ve ever had (even my third cars) get winter tires on them to drive on dry winter days. I bought my blackwing to daily drive year...
Yeah I certainly don’t want to be the Guinea pig, just sharing what I heard lol. Spoke with a couple friends on the blackwing team regarding this and they didn’t love the idea either. I just can’t wrap my head around the fact Porsche/mclaren can go from carbon to steel yet a Cadillac is where...
It’s really awesome when you track with other guys who have PDR! My Camaro/vette buddies and I will pull cards at lunch time and after the first days event to compare sectors and try and improve lap times.
For me it was about the manual trans, v8, practicality, AND the fact it is more than track capable. I previously had a 6gen 1LE as my track toy and a 392 charger as my daily. I had big plans to up that to a hellcat and a ZL1 1LE, then last spring my wife and I decided to start a family. Once we...
My Blackwing hasn't had any issues thus far, but that would be super annoying. On the flip side I'll pile on the FCA comments and say my '22 Durango loses its memory settings all the time and dealer has no clue what to do
I was extremely fortunate that I was able to pick up a fully spec'd 5V off its first owner. Before that I had a mid spec 5v on order and actually was going to purchase and drive a loaded 4v BW until the 5 could be built. My buddy ended up buying the 4 I had a deposit on and its an awesome...
1. Carbon seats are great IMO. I'm a bigger guy @ 6'6 and they're very comfortable (suede should be equally as good) even on long road trips. I just drove 8 hours to Road America to track for 2 days then drove home with 0 complaints. My wife loves the seats especially compared to the Recaros in...
I wish there was more blower whine or at least an aftermarket solution for a CAI that could remedy this. My buddies Zl1 1LE with Rotofab SCREAMED. Aside from that, the car is perfect. I'm 2500 miles and 2 track days into ownership and I walk away more impressed each time I drive the car. The rev...
Ken over at KNS brakes is working on some Blackwing packages last I heard including a Girodisc CCB to steel conversion kit. I went through him for all my Camaro brake parts with great success and solid prices/shipping times. I really loved DBA slotted rotors and Hawk DTC70s on my prior car.
I just left my Camaro at track spec all the time, even when I was using it for 40 min each way commuting and didn't see any crazy accelerated wear. Just make sure the toe is at 0 and you should be good to go. I will do the same on the Blackwing.
Will do, I had 32 track days on my SS 1LE before selling it for the blackwing so I’ve been around the block a few times as far as alpha platform consumables go lol. Everything is finished except the alignment which is scheduled for this Wednesday….my dealer was able to get my 1LE to -2.6 camber...
Awesome thread, thrilled to see you actually using the car for its intended purpose! Cant wait to let the LT4 really breathe myself on track in a few weeks.
Went to change my diff fluid in preparation for Road America in a couple weeks....what size Torx did you use for the drain/fill plugs? Got under the car expecting it to be the same as my 6 gen camaro and realized I didn't have the right tools lol
