Update:
They checked and the brand new exhaust valve caused the same CEL. They ordered a brand new exhaust valve and when it comes in, they will install and see if that takes care of it. If it doesn't they will order a brand new "exhaust system". Not sure exactly what that mean... but my guess...
I do love the car... Just, maybe not this one. hahah
Yeah, I think I'm going to ask the dealership and service manager that if this continues over the next year, if they can see about getting me into a different one and I not lose out on the equity in the car, as these usually keep their value...
So, I got my 4BW in June of last year. Since then I've only put 7,800 miles on the car, but have had to go to the dealership many times.
1. Interior trim pieces were popping out in the headliner and on the dash, they got it to stick in, but it's still malformed.
2. Passenger seat-belt...
Just finding 18s that fit the 4BW are a challenge. So, unless it's some wild design with some weird convexity, or a highly negative offset design, I doubt you'd ever see a 17" on a 4BW.
lol If Car and Driver can't get the correct winter tires, no one can. Still confused why Cadillac did nothing to assure there were winter tires available for this car... did they really think no one would drive their "luxury" car in the cold?
I'd have them agree to something like this; if the powder coater does a satisfactory job, then it's dealt with, but if they don't do great, the dealer can keep the wheels to sell, but order you new ones. Worth a shot.
This is my first car pushing this much HP and boost. I wonder if it's typical for these sort of cars to need new plugs every 10-15k. With a V6 that has a lot of accessories on top, it sounds like a PITA to do about once a year, depending on how much you drive.
I pinged the owner of Aerolarri and he said he'd definitely make wheels for the 4BW and 5BW, however, he needed to measure someone's car. Since I'm still saving up for a second wheel set, I haven't reached out to him again.
Look for any performance shops that also do wheels and tires, they typically have the brain-power to know that you did your homework and just get the tires mounted and wheels balanced.
Just got the Michelin Alpin PA4's 255/265 on tonight. Surprised at how little road noise there was and it still takes corners really well. I know they are super tough to find, but for those that need winter tires on stock rims, I endorse the PA4s.
I second the Tuxmats. Got them for my 4BW.
I like Weathertech... except for the fact that they don't cover up the dead pedal all the way. So every car I've had them in, there is always a ton of salt that's collected at the bottom of the dead pedal because it isn't fully protected by the mat...
2030 is pretty much the year all mainstream ICE engines will die, unless between now and then governments get OK with hydrogen combustion and the infrastructure gets built.
So I'd say, 2025-2027 is probably a good guess.
My sales guy was so confused at why I didn't get the sun roof and when I told him the same things he assured me that wasn't true. I laughed and just said no thank you. Even cars I only had a few years the sunroof would creak, the seals would get so nasty in the direct sun and on a car I wanna...
