    Did you name your Blackwing?

I named my car Edgar. Edgar Allan, actually. Why, because it's a Blackwing, and I specifically ordered Black Raven. Edgar Allan seemed appropriate. When I tell people that, they often say, "Ah, Edgar Allan Poe." And I say, NO! It's not Edgar Allan Poe. My car's full name is "Edgar Allan...

    What did you trade?

"GT350 is the only modern Mustang I lust for. I think its the pinnacle of Mustangs...even over the (fantastic GT500) due to MT." FTFY. No need to minimize the impact of the MT.

    2025 Sebring 12hr Safety Car

Well that's a letdown. I clicked the link to view it in YouTube, in order to see the comments .... and there were none. I expected more from the internet.

EV Thoughts Thread: cause the old farts did their usual thing

I'm not following. Nothing I said would make it more likely to lock your key in the car. You can't get in the car with the key in the pouch, the pouch is only for when you're not driving it. You don't bring the pouch with you into the car. Unless... you want to lock a key in the car for...

EV Thoughts Thread: cause the old farts did their usual thing

With regard to the keyless entry, I would suggest changing your behavior. Don't keep multiple car keys in your pockets, and put the ones not in use in Faraday pouches. It's good practice, and if you adopt it then your problem goes away. Having said that, I agree that the behavior of our BWs...

+1 to working at home, having only a 2-car garage, having 2 vehicles used solely by me ..... and then getting a third vehicle anyway!

Pics of your Blackwing in regular parking spots

I suppose so. There are a few of these in the lot. But the Sprouts grocery store must not be using carts anymore, because they were empty (I think). So I'll just call it a motorcycle parking space. :) Satellite pic from Google Maps:

EV Thoughts Thread: cause the old farts did their usual thing

60 A breaker for a 50 A outlet seems .... not ideal. If the current does exceed 40 A, but doesn't reach 48 A (or 60 A if 100% rated breaker), the breaker won't do anything; it will let the outlet cook. Wiring would depend on the ampacity more than the type. And if you are required to get a...

EV Thoughts Thread: cause the old farts did their usual thing

The good book (National Electric Code) says that you shouldn't load residential circuits continuously at the nominal amperage. The 80% rule is well known. Most loads are not continuous, that's why this is common practice. Naturally, EV charging doesn't fit this profile...

EV Thoughts Thread: cause the old farts did their usual thing

IF you're charging at home, and presumably have a lot of time to charge (overnight, for instance)... AND IF it's generally easier on the batteries to charge more slowly, rather than as fast as possible like you need to do on a road trip... AND IF the 240 V, 50 A outlet is much cheaper... THEN...

Does A Radar Detector Help Anymore?

Ironically, seeing an actual cop on the road has less impact, at least here in the Atlanta area. Two hours ago I saw a very common site around here. Red light, several cars drive right through, cop at the intersection just sits there, no action at all.

Does A Radar Detector Help Anymore?

That's not my experience. Waze makes it very easy to report things. Give it a try and see for yourself. And the hard core Waze users that I know are not even remotely close to the stereotypical distracted driver. They take their driving seriously and could probably report a cop in the app by...

What do you do for a living?

Electrical engineer. I design and build "the cloud." Pretty good gig nowadays, I made the right call to go in that direction in 2008, before it was obvious.
