    Spring mountain- experienced racers?

If you're an experienced track driver, you probably aren't going to learn anything substantial from the Spring Mountain school. I did it in December, and while I enjoyed the experience and improved my lines somewhat, it definitely wasn't a revelation, and I'm not as experienced as you are...

    Steel rotor brake pad replacement

This link includes Porterfield R4-S pads, which sound promising for street use, but are only available for the rear. KNSBrakes | Products | <!-- -->2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing - Iron Discs Bummer. I am waiting for Dynamic Friction to come out with its Active Performance and Track Day pad...

2nd oil change with 1700 miles driven on 5BW, 13% on the "maintenance indicator"

The oil life in mine was in the 60s, then I parked it for a month and a half, and then the oil life was 40%. It had 3000 miles on the car, and 1500 miles on the oil, so it must be taking into account time.

Anyone considered re-gearing the manual, or maybe change rear-end ratio?

Changing gearing has a much bigger effect on the higher gears than the lower ones. Let's say 2nd gear is good for 80mph and you make the gearing 10% shorter. Now 2nd gear will be good for 72mph, which isn't a super drastic change. But if 6th gear is good for 230mph, it'll now top out at...

Spring Mountain car pool Jan 16-18?

I rented a C8 Corvette via Turo for the 3 days I was in Vegas. Cost me a little under $500. Made the trip from Vegas to Pahrump pretty quick, cruising at 125mph.

    CT5-V Low dust pad options?

One more question, what are people using to ceramic coat their wheels? I have been giving the wheels a coat of Turtle Wax ceramic spray ( https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Wax-53409-Solutions-Coating-16/dp/B07XYPS3PS/ ) when I change out the winters for summers and vice versa but it doesn't seem to...

    CT5-V Low dust pad options?

After reading about the DTC 60 ( DTC-60 ) and DTC 70 ( DTC-70 ) , it sounds like they might be too aggressive for street use. I don't want a pad that puts everyone's face into the windshield with a light press. Are the Hawk 5.0 pads available for the 5BW? If so, what is the part number...

I am not sure I love my 5BW

I haven't driven a Charger Hellcat, so there could certainly be more wrong with it than just the lack of three pedals. I do know that it's reputed to be a fat pig of a car so it probably wouldn't satisfy me either. So, yeah, I don't like turbos, but I do like 911s and the only way to get...

I am not sure I love my 5BW

Thanks for all of the feedback. Regarding the traction control settings, I assume that each more-aggressive setting allows more slip angle than one below it, so Race 2 should be the best for getting sideways while still having some sort of safety net. Is that an accurate assumption? The M5...

I am not sure I love my 5BW

I got my CT5-V Blackwing 6MT in February. I ordered from Sewell in August 2021, and after being on a waiting list forever, they told me that I could have the car in 6 weeks if I omitted the CF1 package. Eventually I relented. Mine is blaze orange (which is the best color, IMO) and has the...

    Jacking up your Blackwing

I just tried it with my BL-7000SLX and the jacking points look to be about an inch too wide. Mine is a 5BW, not a 4BW.

    Jacking up your Blackwing

Turn it sideways? Do you mean that instead of the Quickjacks being left and right, you turn them 90 degrees and use one Quickjack to lift the front of the car, and the other for the rear?

    Rear Diff Fluid

So is anyone changing their 5BW's diff fluid both before AND after their first track day? My gut feeling is that one or the other is necessary--what does the ZL1 manual say to do?

    Rear Diff Fluid

I've got about 1600 miles on my 5BW and am going to do a track day in the next month or so. I can't find anything in the manual about differential fluid changes when tracking the car but seem to remember that it should be changed either before or after the first track day. Which is it...

I had my new 5BW shipped to me. What did I miss at the dealer?

I hooked up a tender to the leads in the engine compartment while out of town for a week. I’ll probably wire up some heads to the battery in the trunk for a more permanent solution. I have no doubt that a couple of weeks unattended would kill the battery.

I had my new 5BW shipped to me. What did I miss at the dealer?

For the first service, if it’s free, can I have it done at 500 miles or do I need to wait until the car / manual call for it?

Yes, ‘97. Journalism. Came down from LaGrange (southwest Chicago suburb) and never left. You?
