GREAT thoughts, I totally agree. You can see on youtube that tuners have been blocked out of tuning the Blackwing. It's exactly what you say. I assume much like smog testing did, there will be a grandfathered era of later model vehicles that will become the next wave of classic hot rods. From...
Producing a CT5 Blackwing without the Blackwing motor was the most GM thing that GM has done in a long time. Obviously the real engine cost (warranty, parts, techs, etc.) was much more than meets the eye. And it's inconsistent with their strategic shift towards electric. But damn it.
That’s a self fulfilling prophecy though. If they don’t ever try to step up, they never will. They are winning on tranny, weight (huge accomplishment), and fun. Interior is not complicated to solve. They even solved the engine before keeping the name and ditching it for the Chevy bin to save $.
That’s a good explanation, but I think many already paying over $100k for a sedan would pay up for an outright BMW beater. To me, that’s the real point of this thread. No more compromises for the Cadillac brand.
Agree with your sentiment on enjoyment, but at some point Cadillac has to stop competing as the "cheap option" the Germans. Go head to head and let the best cars win. I would have been happy to pay more for the option of no Chevy plastics.
If we were talking about the C8 I would think...
Yep. It's not a tradeoff that we get to make - that is the only disappointment. I'm very pleased with the Blackwing interior, it's got a ton of personality with all the contrasts, but if there was an even higher end option I would have paid up for it.
Guys I would like to reiterate that Cadillac offered a solution to this problem. Albeit an expensive one but at some level affording options has to stop mattering if Caddy is going to compete with the big boys. The carbon ceramic brakes don’t create hardly any dust. The calipers look amazing...
For any of you who bought the PDR like me in the V3 and never used it, here’s a better use of space for where the SD card goes. STEALTH BABY.
(I’m an everyman posting to provide relevant and timely content, I acknowledge the car should be cleaner and pics could be higher quality!)
Will do when I get her cleaned up
The particular mod is the V badge in black. Seems like it should have come from the factory this way to denote the Blackwing vs the regular CT5-V.
Car disengages the ebrake automatically. I just wish it would ENGAGE automatically when the car is in park and powered off. Seriously, if you drive a manual why would they not do this even on flat roads???
I think you would keep these if you would keep the paper floor mats they put in the car when it's new. You will never use them again. Not only is there almost no practical scenario where they would be needed, outside of potentially shipping the car across the country, but also they would be a...

Like most I have the carbon splitter so not optimistic but figured I would ask…
