Don't get me wrong, I like the back end. But leaving it completely unchanged on the 25s with new predator face - poor design. Bean counting I guess. Most buyers are enamored with "approach lighting animation" and TV screens inside, and probably don't care about the back end anyways.

When I'm driving, I don't see what the exterior of the vehicle looks like. I'm just enjoying the visceral experience. The interior touch surfaces are acceptable & the seats are comfortable enough for me. I don't really care what she looks like from the outside. Yes, I'm into her personality & not her looks!

I don't have any technical design training, but to my the refreshed front is softer and less aggressive and maybe a better match for the rear. Frankly, the 5BW in either form isn't nearly as attractive as the 3rd gen, so it's not like they took something beautiful and ruined it, in my subjective eye anyway.

I'm a residential architect, but that does not mean jack diddly. We all see things differently. Besides, I always say, architects are like hockey goalies...

I don't deny being slightly interested in the new M5 wagon, but it's a FATTY and will feel very isolated. But, for running the kids to soccer practice and bombing to work on the highway, it'll be a machine.

That said, keeping my 5BW forever.

Agree, love the wagon, but think I'd go RS6 if I really wanted a wagon bomber.

Seriously, a V wagon with six-speed, a detuned LT7, and maybe AWD (weight for some traction) and people would be KICKING the doors down at Cadillac dealers nationwide.

Didn't Cadillac do a CTS-V wagon at some point, which as I recall, did not sell very well? There are too few enthusiasts who want one and are willing to buy one new. It's like the BMW 5 series wagon, everyone loves them now, but when they were new, few people (in the USA) would buy one, and so BMW stopped selling them here.

A buddy of mine bought one and put an E39 drivetrain in it. That was fun.

MB, BMW, Caddy, Jag, etc. have had wagons. I wanted to see a Ute in my garage but don't expect it any time soon. No one wants any of them until we can't have them..

I so miss my 2001 Audi S4 Avant (wagon). Aside from being absolutely badass - it had fantastic utility. I filled that thing with lumber, soil, paving stones etc so many times (wish I could find some pics). It was also great for hauling the canoe, bikes and camping gear. I even had it to 150 mph briefly with a canoe on top and 3 bikes off the back....just to see if it could do it. And that was going up a mountain...had plenty more to spare and the canoe was lashed tight. It was a true SUV IMO....with a 6 speed no less.

If the CT4 V BW came in a wagon that would be what I'd be driving now. And if they put out one now I'd seriously consider trading mine in for one. Unfortunately not likely to ever happen. The 5 is just too big for my tastes...but I'd still love to see one. I still marvel at the CTS-V wagon.

Caddy made the CTS-V Wagon in 2011-2014. There were ~2000 sold. In a straight line, the automatic tranny version was (slightly) faster than than the coupe or the sedan bc of its shape. I think there were <400 MT versions sold. I saw one at a track event at VIR in 2013 driven by a Novice student & I gave him kudos for bringing it to the track. I always wanted one but couldn't afford it when new. A really good one these days with low miles goes for up to $100k. One of the probs with the MT version was it was not up to the torque the engine put out so it was a common point of failure whereas the AT was relatively bullet-proof. If Caddy came out with a Wagon 5BW, I'd be the first in-line to get one. I love wagons & hatches.

I was on the annual Tri-State Subaru Owner's Club charity run in 2007 & was able to tour the Subaru headquarters in Cherry Hill, NJ & met the then CEO, Tomohiko Ikeda. The year before, they had brought back the Impreza wagon. I told Mr Ikeda of they made an STi version, I'd get one immediately. He smiled & said, "Keep your eyes open for good things to come," & left it at that. The next year, the new STI came out as a hatch & true to my word, I went to 3 different Subbie dealerships to get an allocation. I was one of the first in the northeast to get a 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI.

There's a guy that lives a half mile for me that always had one in red with yellow calipers and black wheels. It was a manual transmission I'm pretty sure. He held on to it for a long time and then ended up switching over to a Corvette. It was always cool to see it out and about.

If you go to Europe, what seems like a majority of the passenger cars are wagons. They don't do SUVs, but they love the wagons.
