Located in northeast I will be storing my 5blackwing In my garage over the winter. Had oil changed yesterday at dealer and only offered advice on moving car once a month so tires wouldn't ruin
Looking for Guidance
Should I hook up battery tender under hood?
Does car need to be moved to prevent tire damage? Dealer mentioned Sta-bil?
Dryer sheets to keep rodents away? Starting car?
Looking for Solid plan. Will be stored for 6 months
Appreciate
 
Battery tender and a cover if you have one. I wouldn't use Sta-bil in a lawnmower let alone my BW. If rodents are an issue I would just keep traps near.
 
Don't start the car unless you have time to fully warm it up and get all of the moisture out of the exhaust and engine. That usually involves at least 15 to 20 minutes running and some driving. You're better off just leaving it off. I purchased flat-stoppers a couple of years ago which are curved things that you drive up onto and evenly supports the tire and doesn't allow them to go flat in one area. It's usually best to fill up the tank completely so you can't yet moisture accumulating in the airspace, and put in a high quality stabilizer from Lucas or something like that. 100% keep a battery tender on it.

I live in Northern New York so I have to do this with my fun cars. Unfortunately mine is brand new and getting PPF and all of the treatment right now and when I get at home it will probably have to go straight into storage with just over 500 miles on it.

If you want to drive it down to the Capital Region I can pick it up when I'm up for Thanksgiving and drive the shit out of it very gently break it in for you over the next few months so you have a car that's fully ready to go come Spring.

I stored mine in MN. Just pumped the tires to 37 psi. No flat spots. Fill gas, connect tender, leave her alone till spring. Don’t walk around the car with keys after u put on tender.
 
I use Battery tenders on my other car and tractor but my Cadillac came with a Cadillac charger. I have used it occasionally to charge the battery but have not left it connected continuously like I do the Battery Tenders. Does anyone use one of these? Any idea if it is safe to just leave connected or should I just get another Battery Tender for the winter? 5d9473c09df7dfe8e5faf2d4e8c4b5bd.webp
 
Battery tender, and don't start it unless you will drive it. Cover isn't necessary, I always worry about scratching with covers. A little dust isn't going to harm the car.

Modern tires don't flat spot f you are really worried you can overinflate the tires a few PSI.

Thats it, storing a car for a few months doesn't require anything special besides a battery tender. Everything else is optional.

If your garage is prone to mice (you should know if it is or isn't) just put down some traps. My garage gets mice every now and then and traps take care of it, my cars have never had a mouse problem but my garage isn't heated and a cold car isn't going to be any warmer than my cold garage over the winter.

That is a battery tender, its just branded. It is safe to leave on the car. I have one along with two others branded for Corvette's.
 
I am going to be putting mine in one of those car bubble things, because it keeps things nice and dry and any rodents out of it, but also because it will keep from my fuc**** cat from walking on the car.

I forgot also about adding extra pressure to the tires, that is a good idea.

Never a problem with flat spots. Dealer mentioned Sta-bil? Top off your tank with 91-93 octane and add the appropriate amount of Ethanol Shield.

Optional: Wash, dry, vacuum and clean the windows. Remove anything you may need while it's stored. Cover it, if you have one.

Disclaimer: My garage is heated.
 
I've used a "car capsule " and a battery tender the past 2 winters that I put my 5bw in storage. I had a car capsule previously for my '01 camaro SS back in 2008 and loved it.
 
I really feel for you guys/gals that have to do this. Especially with the Michelin AS tires I just installed, I'll be driving Pegasus all winter long in North Cackalacky. If we get even an inch of snow here in Raleigh, it'll be snowpocalypse and I'll probably have to drive my F-150 for a day.

Here's a standing offer to anyone who wants to store their 5/4BW at my house and I'll make sure to drive it for you on the regular to cycle the oil and all other fluids in the car. I guarantee the tires won't develop any flat spots while in my care. (Bald isn't flat, right?) No need for a battery tender! I'll even put fresh fuel in it for you so no need for fuel stabilizer. (Man, the things I'll do to help a brother out!)
