There has been considerable media coverage of Cadillac’s resurgence of the sporty CTS and ATS sedans aimed at the heart of its German competition.

But the folks behind the wreath and crest logo have not abandoned the full-size market upon which the brand was formed.

The Cadillac XTS first appeared three years ago this month at the Los Angeles Auto Show as a 2013 model, replacing both the DTS and STS.

For the 2014 model year it received a potent new V6 engine and a V-Sport model designation.

For 2015 the XTS continues to be offered in one well-equipped model with three optional ‘Collections’ — Luxury, Premium and Platinum.

Upgrades for 2015 include OnStar with 4G LTE, which brings a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, 22-way power-adjustable front seats with heat, ventilation and massage (on the Platinum Collection), revised armrests with radio and sunshade controls (Platinum and Platinum Vsport) and a new colour palate.
