On the heels of Cadillac’s announcement that ultra high performance CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing models are coming in 2021, we now find out that a Sport Wagon version of the CT5-V is under consideration!
According to an interview by Autoline After Hours with Cadillac Chief Engineer, Brandon Vivian, “a CT5 wagon remains under active consideration”.
“So I will tell you, I’ve been looking at that many, many, many times,” Vivian said. “We continue to look for opportunities to make money, and I will continue to do that.”
This is great news, because as we’ve seen here, in our own member forums, owners of the original CTS-V Sport Wagon are extremely passionate about the model!
“So, nothing to announce right now, but certainly, when you see the enthusiasm of our customers, and when I’m out there talking to our customers, to our V-Lab — to our V-Club members — there is an absolute fanaticism around the V wagons, and wagons in general. So because of that, we continue to study a future variant.”
Only 1,764 CTS-V Sport Wagons were built between 2011 – 2014, which is a drop in the bucket when you look at overall CTS Wagon Production. However, that’s what makes it a real treat when you see one of these Cadillacs on the open road.
While overall sales numbers of the wagon were nothing to write home about, today, they continue to command a hefty dollar.
Hemmings Motor News currently has one example for sale: a 2013 with 53,757 miles on the odometer for $45,000 FIRM. With an original MSRP of $63,315, that’s a difference of just $15,000 over seven years.
Given the current situation with American automotive manufacturers shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic, it’s unlikely we’ll see this CT5-V Sport Wagon later in 2021 if the concept ever moves past the “future variant study” stage at Cadillac.
