The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V has finally been unleashed and if initial reviews are anything to go by, this car may just be America’s answer the amazing BMW M5.

For many years now Cadillac has been considered a sedate automaker, but with cars like the CTS-V, they may have been able to change this perception just a little bit. Still, it’s not quite certain whether this car will be able to topple the BMW M5 from its mantle in the segment of luxury performance sedans. Fortunately, the CTS-V has a powerful 6.2 liter supercharged V8 engine with 640 horsepower & 630 lb/ft of torque. If you find those figure looking a bit familiar then perhaps that is because it has the same engine as the Corvette Z06.

The brand new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V knocks the BMW M5 off its perch

Even though this car has a much larger frame as compared to the Corvette, it has managed to go from 0 to 60 mph in a measly 3.6 seconds. In comparison, the BMW M5 needs 3.7 seconds to achieve the same speed. The quarter mile time for this luxury sedan is at 11.6 seconds which is quite remarkable in this segment. What helps is that the car has 6-piston Brembo brakes in the front & 4-piston Brembo brakes in the back. It also has the Magnetic Ride Control shocks & Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Handling and ride feel is excellent in this super sedan.
